Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, co-founders of the gaming franchise BioWare, have left the building pushing solid gold wheelbarrows piled high with cash and have retired from the video gaming industry. Gaming giant EA has managed to fully indoctrinate the organization and has assumed total “Control” of BioWare as it negotiates it way through the murky waters of gamer’s thoughts and emotions. It was reported that Ray left through the Blue door whereas Greg picked the Red door ending to his tenure at BioWare.

Not much any of us gamers can do about the whole situation except hope that BioWare continues to pump out quality products. I know . . . I know . . . everyone paints EA as the demonic destroyer of gaming franchises but I am going to take a wait and see attitude on this development. There is still a lot of talented staff at BioWare that I have faith in and I believe in their skill and expertise.  Here’s looking at you kid!

Other news from BioWare includes the announcement of a new Mass Effect game that is currently on the drawing board!  Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton, publicly announced the future direction of the organization in a recent blog post on BioWare forums: “Executive Producer Casey Hudson and his team are coming off an amazing eight-year run with the Mass Effect trilogy. But they’re not done yet. We are releasing more multiplayer content and we have more single-player stories coming throughout the next six months, including Omega which is coming in the Fall. But the Mass Effect universe is vast, and Casey and our teams have plans for another full game. “Where to go next?” with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we’d all love to hear your ideas.”

That is indeed good news! A totally new Mass Effect game set somewhere in the vast Mass Effect Universe is something to definitely look forward to. I am absolutely down with that! The announcement of more multi player content on the horizon is a bonus for the Mass Effect Multi aficionados. This is great news for players that like to thrash it out run and gun style. More DLC (Omega) is always beneficial since it keeps the game alive. I am especially excited about the announcement of the new Mass Effect game since I am so spoiled by the Mass Effect trilogy I could not help but wonder what game I was going to play next? After living in the Mass Effect universe all these years hanging with my space bro Garrus and the crew of the Normandy I shuddered to think of playing a traditional game of blast the pixels. I now need fully developed characters that I care about to feed my gaming mojo or there will be no joy!

Out with the old – In with the new!
